Product Strategy
Newsec Maps was a platform built by Newsec to help real estate teams manage and visualize property data. We joined as design partners to modernize the product, redesign the UI, and introduce new collaborative features. Over 16 months, the platform evolved into a modern PropTech tool, and was eventually acquired by Placepoint.

Challenge
Turning Business Software into a Modern Experience
When we joined the project, Newsec Maps had a lot of potential, but was held back by dated design, a cluttered interface, and limited usability. It felt like a tool from a different era. The challenge was to modernize the platform without disrupting the workflows users relied on, and to introduce a more intuitive, enjoyable user experience.
At the same time, the team had big ideas for new features; Things that would make the product more collaborative, visual, and valuable for brokers, property managers, and sales teams. We helped make those ideas real.

Process
A Deeply Collaborative Redesign
We worked closely with the Newsec Maps team across product, design, and engineering. Together, we reimagined the platform’s interface, simplified the user experience, and added a layer of clarity and polish that had been missing.
We didn’t just deliver mockups. We facilitated key UX decisions and helped define how the platform should feel to use; More like a modern SaaS product than a dry internal tool. The result was a cleaner, more interactive, and ultimately more useful product for teams across the property industry.
Results
Positioning for Acquisition
After 16 months of continuous design work, Newsec Maps had evolved into a modern PropTech platform, complete with a fresh design system, powerful new features, and a user experience that reflected the needs of its audience.
The transformation paid off. In 2025, Placepoint, a leading PropTech company in the Nordics, acquired the platform and integrated it into their own ecosystem. We’re proud to have played a role in turning a dated internal initiative into a product worth acquiring.
